Stylist Profile: Andrea Lewin

Perth is an amazing city, and so are its creatives! To celebrate that, we are interviewing local designers, bloggers and stylists to get a look into how they started and their thoughts on today’s trends.

Today we are chatting to Andrea Lewin of Fashion Addicted Panda and stylist extraordinaire.

Tell me about yourself?

I am not your average Perth Fashion and Personal stylist: P

What are your top styling tips?

  1. You can never go wrong with black
  2. Less is more
  3. You can never go wrong with a pair of white sneakers

What trends, if any, should be avoided?

1.Mixed patterns only do if super confident with it and have done before

2.Crocs, I know that they were showcased at Paris fashion week but still a no-no.

When did you realise you wanted to pursue a career in fashion?

I have always loved fashion. I think the first time was actually when I helped volunteer at a fashion event, (I was studying event management at the time) I was back of house and walked past all the models, backstage looked soo hectic, I wanted to be apart of the chaos.

How did you go about breaking into the fashion industry?

After volunteering at a few fashion events, I did a styling course with Stylist, Ivanna Fontana (who recommended us to intern) through networking I met a few designers. One being Jonte and I started interning at Jonte Designs for a year, where I learnt a lot and met a lot of people.

What is the biggest thing you’ve learned since starting in the industry?

You have to believe in yourself, because if you don’t, no one else will.

Do you have a career highlight so far?

I was so humbled when one of my favourite Perth street artists and his wife reached out and complimented me on my styling and most recently having to work for IMG/WME.

Who or what is your fashion muse/inspiration?

I have a few 😛 Jaden Smith, Sofia Richie, Rihanna and Luka Sabbat.

What advice would you give aspiring stylists and bloggers?

Network as much as you can!  Go to events, get out of your comfort zone and meet people, go for coffee with them, learn (maybe intern) from them and collaborate.

What is your motto or what motivates you?

Be nice to people on your way up, you’ll meet them again on your way down.

What goals do you have for the next 5 years?

  1. Hopefully have expanded my brand, nationally and internationally
  2. Keep challenging myself and make sure I am always progressing

What are you currently binge watching?

Younger, it’s so good!

What is the most embarrassing thing on your playlist?

Why not by Hilary Duff

And finally, what is your current guilty pleasure?

Well currently I am Reading the Game by Neil Strauss
